So self indulgent but ohh do I love photoshop.
On a serious note. Masculine and Military. These are the two trends I'm focused on for fall.
The wear-ability of these is what makes them so appealing to me and I'm all about functionality over frou.
I'd be quite happy if all the above looks could walk straight off the runway
and into my wardrobe so I can wear them for real...

New shoes.
I often take inspiration from menswear and I find myself drawn to items which have masculine influences.
A lot of my clothes could be straight from my boyfriend's wardrobe.
On more than one occasion I've met up with the boy to find we're wearing the same outfit
- eg. denim shirt with black skinnies, the only difference being I'm often in heels.
Now we run the risk of wearing matching shoes.

It's been a while since I've been in full blogger mode - 18 months to be precise.
As a fashion graduate I found myself in that place of not knowing what comes next
and finding student debts and lack of paying placements holding me back.
Next thing you know you have a full time job and no spare time to blog.
But I now plan to make time.
On another note, I love using magazines as side tables.
I have a ridiculously large collection and they come in quite handy stacked up haphazardly.

Going through some very old snaps from previous LFWs and I came across these of Columbine Smille.
I can't overstate how much I love Swedish style, or how much I try to emulate it! It's minimalist but with that unique edge.
They never look over done and it always seems so fresh and effortless. Case in point Miss Smille.
I follow Swedish fashion blogs more so than any others. In my opinion it's the perfect understated style.

There's something about 90s style that I'm obsessed with.
The departure from the over processed, in your face 80s.
It seems to resonate today, what with the overload of fake tan and eyelashes.
Everything is in excess. The austerity that follows this indulgence is what I'm drawn to.
One couple who capture this bare faced 90s beauty are Johnny Depp and Kate Moss.
I can't get enough.

My favourite colour is grey. Maybe a sombre colour of choice but these things choose you.
I got this dove grey leather jacket in the sale at REISS. Everyone needs a lifetime leather
and REISS is known for its high quality and at nearly half price I see it as an investment.
It's a steel. Pun Intended.

Kate Moss and Lea T are locking lips for LOVE mag Issue 5. Each issue you think it can't get any better and then Katie Grand goes and surprises us all by showing some transsexual Love right on the cover. I'm so sick of mundane covers from all the monthly glossies with celeb after celeb...so this is a breath of fresh air! I've been a fan of Lea T for some time with her stunning Givenchy campaigns and as this issue of Love is all about androgyny then who better to grace the cover?! Roll on February 7th <3

So I've been stuck wearing grey and black for as long as I can remember,
more for ease and lack of inspiration than anything. However, as I'm
trying to block out the reality of the miserable January weather
and dreaming about the upcoming summer months I've been considering
bringing some much needed colour into my wardrobe. The S/S11
shows were array with with brights and I'm really liking these tailored
pieces and the idea of mixing more grown ups cuts with playful rainbow
colours. Now all I have to do is sit tight and wait for the high street
to bring out something more in my price range, and no doubt
a longer wait for the accompanying tan.... Bring on the summer!

Christopher Kane's 2011RST last summer was out of this world... literally. As I wasn't a fan of the SS collection, it was a little too grown up and preppy for my liking, I thought I would revisit my love for these cosmo creations that have sparked a whole trend focused on galaxy imagery. I can not get enough. When the weather hots up I'm going to hunt down a cosmic dress and some fluffy heels would be a serious bonus to top it all off. So watch this SPACE, ha, did you see what I did there.... <3

Found this random photo taken in the summer that I never got round to posting, mainly because it's quite posy which makes me cringe a little more than I usually do at photos of myself, but hey ho here it is anyway! It reminds me of those warm summer evenings when I got back from Ibiza and seriously makes me miss my beach hair, sunglasses and anything in shades of ivory instead of all this black. I can't wait for the sun to start shining and I can dust off my trusty Raybans once again. The tuxedo jacket with golden sequin lapels is by Adam, a star find at a sample sale in Chelsea Market whilst I was in NYC. I nabbed it for $30 when it was originally $500... I honestly felt like I'd robbed the place!
As it's a new year the shameful neglection of The Fashion Smoke is to end forthwith and I've added some much needed colour to the site for a change of pace so I hope you all approve and stay tuned!
